Welcome!!

I am so excited to offer you this amazing experience and hope that you will find this guide helpful! This guide is designed to help you visualize your experience, with information on what to expect from beginning to end.

We are a full-service boutique studio providing print products and album design services. We do things a little different than other studios. We value relationships with our clients turned friends and meet with them multiple times throughout the process to help choose the perfect print products for their home and photograph the session with these products in mind. We believe that printed images are so much more powerful than images that get forgotten on a computer. We also believe that in 10, 30 or 50 years, the technology will be very different and digital images are likely to be lost, whereas you will have been able to enjoy your images everyday on your walls and have them stand the test of time to be passed down to the next generation and to their children eventually. This is why digital images are only included within the Wedding Collections and with legacy products.

To kick things off, I wanted you to know a little more about who I am and why I absolutely LOVE what I do! My husband and I met over 10 years ago when we both lived in England. Although we have traveled the world together our favourite moments remain the small ones, the cuddling on the couch watching a movie with our puppy; cooking our favourite roast dinner, twirling in the kitchen and smelling the most amazing smell of gravy and rosemary roast potatoes; and hosting garden parties and game nights. I believe that great love stories are made of a million little amazing moments. I absolutely love capturing these moments for my couples and tell their stories for the next generations to experience how much they loved each other, and still do all these years later. I love creating heirloom wedding albums that will get past down generations inspiring their grandchildren to love genuinely. I would also love to know more about you!

Step 1: Lets get to know each other and plan your session

After receiving your inquiry, we will schedule an in person or skype consultation to talk about what you are looking for the session. I will host you at the studio and we will chat about your home and where you would like to showcase your images. We will look at the products we offer and see which ones would best fit in that space. However, you can wait until you see the images before deciding exactly which product you will want. Because you may have had a large canvas in mind for your space, but when you see the images you may love them so much and also want an album with your favourite images for your coffee table.

We will talk about the colour and decorations you have there and what type of clothing you could wear at the session that would best compliment your space. (If you can bring photos of the room where you would love to showcase your photographs from the session it would make that process even better!) We will also brainstorm about the perfect location for what you are looking for!

During your consultation, if you haven’t already done so, we will schedule the exact date for your session, you will sign the contract and pay the non-refundable session fee to reserve the date. Digital images are not included in the session fee. At the studio, we accept email transfer (e-Transfer) through your bank’s website, credit card, cheque or cash.

Step 2: Prepare for your session

Following your consultation, I will send you a styling guide to give you further pointer to prepare for your engagement or family session. The guide will provide information on the best clothing choices for timeless images that will last the test of time. It will also provide ideas on how to coordinate outfits and other useful details. I will also be available during the planning process to help you pick your outfit if you are debating between a few options. I will only be one email, call or skype away!

Step 3: The session

We will meet for your session one hour before sunset for outdoor fine art portraits. For lifestyle sessions in your home, we will meet at the time of day that best fits the theme of your session. For example, a couple’s morning coffee and breakfast in bed lifestyle session would take place in the morning, a baking with your kids session would likely take place in the afternoon, and an evening routine of bath time, teeth brushing and story time would usually take place at night time.

The sessions typically last 45-90 minutes depending on the location, outfit changes and the light available. Recognizing that most people are nervous and not that comfortable in front of a camera, I provide a lot of direction during posing to make everyone comfortable and create natural candid looking images. For lifestyle sessions, in addition to some posed images, I will also be a fly on the wall in your home to capture your day to day family interaction.

Step 4: The viewing session

A couple of weeks after your session you will return to the studio to view your lightly edited images for the first time. We will sip some tea or drink some coffee and you and your significant other will decide which images will be perfect on your walls and which ones you will want in an album. All chosen images will be fully edited to remove blemishes and background distractions before being printed. We will also design your album together and you will choose the fabric and colour you want for the cover. You will receive a 10% discount on all products purchased at the viewing session. A $50 fee will be necessary to reschedule a viewing appointment missed without 24 hours’ notice, or to schedule an ordering appointment following a viewing session. Clients typically spend between $500 and $1,500 for their heirloom album and wall art.

Step 5: Receiving your products

Depending on the print product you have purchased, your print products are usually ready for pick-up between 4-6 weeks for wall art and prints and between 6-8 weeks for heirloom albums. Deliveries are also available and are subject to shipping fees.

With Legacy products purchases, you will receive the corresponding digital images with a print release of up to 8x12 in an online gallery following the session and after the payment is received. If you also purchase separate digital files, they will be included in your digital gallery.

Engagement sessions and associated digital images are complimentary with your wedding coverage. If you book us for your wedding photography, your engagement session fee will be credited and you will receive a gallery of digital images from the session.
